There are two ways Poseidon fits into a military move, and the right one depends on how your relocation is arranged.

Personally procured moves

With a PPM, you arrange the move yourself and are reimbursed based on government calculations for your authorized weight. Poseidon provides the professional muscle inside that arrangement: packing, loading, transportation, storage, and delivery, plus itemized paperwork and support for the certified weight tickets your claim requires.

Moves on your own dime

Some families move outside the reimbursement process entirely: retirement relocations, separations, moves between duty stations for a spouse’s career, or a household heading home after service. Those run like any Poseidon move, local or interstate, with written pricing and a dedicated coordinator.

PPM DOCUMENTATION

Certified Weight Tickets Done Right

A PPM reimbursement lives or dies on paperwork. We build the documentation into the move:

Reimbursement basis. Under a PPM you can be reimbursed up to 100 percent of what the government would have paid to move the same weight, within your authorized allowance. Confirm current figures with your transportation office before you book.

Empty and loaded weights. The truck is weighed empty and again after loading, on certified scales, so your net shipment weight is documented.

Tickets in your name. Weight tickets identify the move so they can be submitted with your claim without questions.

Itemized paperwork. Your estimate and bill of lading itemize services and belongings, matching what reimbursement reviewers expect to see.

Keep every original document until your claim is paid, and confirm current requirements with your transportation office, since programs and rates change.

Military Moving Questions Answered

Moves booked through the government household-goods program are assigned by the program itself. Where Poseidon fits is the personally procured move, where you arrange the mover directly and are reimbursed, or any relocation you book on your own. Both come with full-service crews and the paperwork your situation requires.

A PPM, formerly called a DITY move, is a relocation you arrange yourself instead of using a government-assigned mover. You are reimbursed based on the weight moved and your authorized allowance, up to 100 percent of what the government would have paid for the same shipment, and hiring a professional crew for the labor and transportation is allowed within it.

Yes. Local moves near your installation, into or out of base housing, and around-town relocations run with the same crews and written pricing, on hourly or flat-rate terms. Interstate PCS and PPM relocations are quoted as binding flat rates.

Yes. The truck is weighed empty and loaded on certified scales, tickets are issued for your shipment, and your itemized estimate and bill of lading round out the file your claim needs.

Will my furniture be protected?

Yes. At Poseidon Moving, protecting your furniture is one of our highest priorities.

Every piece is carefully prepared before it’s moved. Our crews use heavy duty moving blankets, stretch wrap, floor protection, and proven loading techniques to help prevent scratches, dents, and shifting during transport.

If you have antiques, artwork, glass, marble, or other high-value items, we can recommend additional protection options such as custom crating or White Glove service.

Are there items you can't move?

Yes. For safety reasons, we cannot transport hazardous materials or certain restricted items. These are commonly referred to as “non-allowable items.”

This includes:

•Propane tanks, gasoline, kerosene, and lighter fluid
•Paint, aerosols, household cleaners, and other hazardous chemicals
•Fireworks, ammunition, matches, and charcoal
•Living things, including plants, fish, and pets

We recommend transporting these items yourself, using them before your move, or disposing of them safely according to local regulations.

Can you take down TVs and wall-mounted items?

Yes. We can remove and reinstall many wall-mounted items as part of your move.

Our crews can typically dismount and reinstall:

Some installations may require additional hardware, specialized tools, or extra time, so these services may incur an additional charge.
