Start Here: Common Questions
Yes. We provide Basic Liability coverage standard with every move and can issue a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for your building at no extra charge. Send your account manager your building’s requirements at least 48 hours before your move and we will prepare and send it.
We offer both. For local moves, you can choose hourly pricing or a written flat rate; neither option is automatically cheaper, and your coordinator can quote both so you can compare. Hourly moves have a three-hour minimum that includes working time and fixed travel time. Long-distance moves receive a written, binding flat-rate estimate based on your item list, distance, access at both addresses, and requested services.
Request a quote online with your moving date, addresses, and item list, or update your item list in your online account at any time. For the most precise quote, schedule a Virtual Walkthrough, a video call in which we assess your move; homes with two or more bedrooms may qualify for a free in-person estimate. You can also email or call us with your item list and we will update your account for you. Every price is confirmed in writing before you book.
We recommend contacting us at least a month before your move, especially for dates from May through September. We can also accommodate last-minute or same-day moves depending on truck and crew availability.
Yes. On hourly moves, difficult access can increase working time. Heavy or oversized items may also require additional crew, equipment, or a handling charge. For flat-rate moves, we account for the access conditions and specialty items disclosed before you sign. Any additional items or services are reviewed and documented for your approval before the added work begins.
Quotes, Pricing, & Payments
Local hourly rates depend on your moving date, crew size, actual working time, and fixed travel time, with a three-hour minimum that includes both; the rate tiers are published. Flat-rate moves are based on your specific item list, the distance traveled, access at both addresses, and any additional requested services.
For flat-rate long-distance moves, your price becomes binding once the written estimate is signed, applying to the specific items and services listed. Hourly local quotes are estimates; your final bill depends on the actual working time on moving day.
If you add items or need additional services, we will explain and document the price adjustment for your approval before any added work is performed.
Yes. Hourly local moves typically require a $200 deposit. Long-distance moves require 10% upfront to reserve the date. All deposits are nonrefundable if you cancel, but you can reschedule without a penalty if your new date is available, although the moving rate may change.
We accept credit and debit cards through our secure payment portal with no processing fees. We do not accept cash or checks for moving charges. For hourly local moves, the balance is due upon completion. For long-distance moves, 60% is due after loading, and the final 30% is due on delivery day before unloading begins.
Tipping is optional. If you choose to tip, our suggested guideline is 10 to 20% of the total moving cost divided among the crew, or $40 to $100 per mover depending on the day’s difficulty. Our tipping guide covers when to go higher or lower.
Packing & Preparation
Our trucks carry standard moving blankets and furniture wrap. If you need boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, or full packing services, let us know before moving day so we bring the right materials. These are priced separately.
Yes. Please empty all drawers and cabinets and pack their contents. This reduces furniture weight and protects your belongings.
Yes. We do not transport hazardous materials (explosive, flammable, or corrosive items), and we do not move live plants, pets, or fish. Contact us before your move for the full list of restricted items.
Let us know before your move if you plan to include jewelry or high-value items, and list each on your moving documents. Failing to declare valuable items can limit our liability.
Moving Day Logistics & Expectations
Your written quote will confirm the crew size and trucks. If you need to add resources, each additional mover is $50 per hour, and each additional truck is $50 per hour.
Yes, we disassemble and reassemble standard furniture (like beds and tables) at no separate service charge. On hourly moves, the time spent counts toward your working time. Tell us in advance about custom-built furniture or complex assemblies that require special tools.
Yes. We can generally take down and reinstall artwork, wall-mounted TVs, and window AC units if requested in advance. TV dismounting and mounting carry an additional charge.
Yes, on request. Appliance disconnection starts at $50 per appliance and must be requested in advance so the crew arrives with the correct tools and instructions.
Tell us before booking about parking restrictions. We can help arrange moving permits in some locations. Contact your account manager early to confirm who will arrange the permit and any associated costs.
We recommend being present at both pickup and delivery for walkthroughs. If you cannot attend, please arrange for a trusted representative to oversee the move and notify your account manager.

Yes. Please tell us about these items when requesting your estimate so we can plan the proper crew and equipment. Special handling or crating may cost extra.
We offer short-term and long-term storage in climate-controlled facilities with 24/7 monitoring. We can arrange storage and final delivery and include these charges in your estimate.
Protection, Liability, & Building Requirements
Basic Liability, also called Released Value, is included at no additional charge, with liability limited to $0.60 per pound per item. A 50-pound item therefore has a liability limit of $30, regardless of its replacement value. Full Value Protection carries an additional charge and must be arranged before your move. It provides for repair, replacement, or reimbursement, subject to the applicable terms. The minimum declared shipment value is $6 per pound of shipment weight or $6,000, whichever is greater; this is the declared shipment value, not the fee for protection. Our Claims & Valuation Department handles valuation questions and claims.
Standard furniture protection is included in our rates. We use heavy-duty moving blankets and furniture shrink wrap to protect your items during handling and transportation.
If your building requires it, yes. Check with building management about moving hours, loading access, and elevator rules, and share those details with your account manager.

Every piece is carefully prepared before it’s moved. Our crews use heavy duty moving blankets, stretch wrap, floor protection, and proven loading techniques to help prevent scratches, dents, and shifting during transport.
If you have antiques, artwork, glass, marble, or other high-value items, we can recommend additional protection options such as custom crating or White Glove service.
Yes. For safety reasons, we cannot transport hazardous materials or certain restricted items. These are commonly referred to as “non-allowable items.”
This includes:
- •Propane tanks, gasoline, kerosene, and lighter fluid
- •Paint, aerosols, household cleaners, and other hazardous chemicals
- •Fireworks, ammunition, matches, and charcoal
- •Living things, including plants, fish, and pets
We recommend transporting these items yourself, using them before your move, or disposing of them safely according to local regulations.

Yes. We can remove and reinstall many wall-mounted items as part of your move.
Our crews can typically dismount and reinstall:
