Safes can weigh anywhere from 200 to over 1,000 pounds and are nearly impossible to grip without the right equipment. We use heavy-duty appliance dollies, stair-climbing equipment, and ramp systems to move safes in and out of basements, closets, garages, and offices. Whether it’s a small fireproof safe or a full-size gun vault, our crew handles the weight and the logistics.

Marble tabletops, stone countertops, cast iron bathtubs, solid hardwood armoires, and pool tables are all extremely heavy and prone to cracking or chipping if handled carelessly. We wrap each piece individually, use edge protectors and foam padding, and can arrange custom crating for items that need maximum protection during transit. How Heavy Item Moving Works with Poseidon

Our moving process for heavy items starts with proper planning:

1.Assessment — Tell us what you need moved, its approximate weight, where it’s located (floor, room, stair access), and where it’s going. Photos help. This lets us assign the right crew size and bring the correct equipment. Use our moving cost calculator for an estimate.

2.Preparation — On-site, we protect floors, doorways, and stairs along the entire path. The item is wrapped, padded, and secured. If disassembly is possible (pool table rails, bed frames, modular shelving), we take it apart to reduce weight and size before moving.

3.Moving & Loading — Using dollies, straps, ramps, or hoisting equipment, the item is carefully moved out of its location and loaded securely into the truck. Inside the vehicle, heavy items are strapped and braced to prevent any movement during transport.

4.Delivery & Placement — At your destination, the item is unloaded, unwrapped, reassembled if needed, and placed exactly where you want it. We do a walkthrough with you to confirm everything is in position and undamaged. Need to hold a heavy item between moves? We offer secure storage for items of any size.

If heavy items are part of a full household move, they’re typically included in your quote — just make sure to declare them during the estimate so we can plan the right crew size and equipment. For standalone heavy item moves (a single piano, safe, or appliance), we quote based on the item, distance, and access conditions. Either way, you get a clear price upfront with no surprises.

We deal with this regularly. Depending on the item and the building layout, we can partially disassemble the piece, use angling techniques to navigate tight openings, or hoist the item through a window or balcony using professional rigging equipment. We assess every access point before moving day so we arrive with the right plan and tools.
