How Much Does a Residential Move Cost?

Local residential moves are priced by the hour based on crew size. The total depends on how many rooms you have, floor level, walking distance to the truck, and whether you add packing. Long distance residential moves use flat-rate binding estimates based on a detailed list of what’s being moved.

Here’s how a typical residential move plays out from the moment our crew pulls up to the moment they leave your new place.

Arrival and Walkthrough

The crew introduces themselves, walks your home with you, confirms what’s going, and flags anything that needs special attention.

Prep and Protection

Floor runners go down, door jambs get padded. Furniture is wrapped, beds and tables are taken apart and tagged for reassembly at the destination.

Loading and Transport

Heavy items go low, fragile items are secured, and nothing gets stacked where it shouldn’t be. The truck heads to your new address.

Unloading, Reassembly, and Final Check

Everything comes off the truck, gets unwrapped, and goes where you point. Furniture is reassembled. You do a walkthrough to confirm everything’s accounted for, and we’re out.

Residential Moving Questions Answered

Two to four weeks is ideal for local moves. If you’re moving long distance or during peak season (May through September), six to eight weeks gives you the best date selection. We also handle same-day requests when crew availability allows.

Dresser drawers can stay filled with soft items like clothes and linens — we wrap the entire piece. Closets should be emptied into wardrobe boxes, which we provide. If you’ve added packing services, our crew handles all of this for you.

Most buildings require an elevator reservation, loading dock time slot, and a Certificate of Insurance. We handle all three. Your coordinator confirms building requirements in advance and issues the COI so there are no delays on move day.

Yes. We handle single-item moves for pianos, antiques, oversized furniture, and appliances. We also do partial-home moves when you only need a few rooms transported. The estimate reflects the actual scope — you’re not paying for a full crew if you don’t need one.

Every move includes basic liability coverage at $0.60 per pound per item. For higher-value homes, we offer full-value protection that requires us to repair, replace, or reimburse the current market value of any damaged item. Your coordinator explains both options at booking so you can choose the right level.

Yes, but we are not liable for those items unless they’re properly reported item by item.

Can you take down/hang my art work, TV, AC...

During move-out we can generally remove artwork, mounted TVs, and window ACs.

Additional cost applies on dismounting and mounting TV.

Yes, our trucks are fully stocked with moving supplies and proper equipment you may need for your move.
