How Our Florida Movers Protect Your Belongings

Florida floors are tile, terrazzo, and polished concrete, and all of them scratch. Our crews lay runners from the truck to the last room, pad the doorways and the elevator cab, and wrap furniture before it moves an inch, at a condo in Fort Lauderdale and a ranch house in Lakeland alike.

We wrap each piece in moving blankets and stretch wrap before it leaves the room, so it stays protected for the whole trip. Items included:

Our trucks arrive stocked with the equipment needed to move your home safely, including dollies, straps, shrink wrap, furniture pads, and floor protection. Please order these before your move date so we can guarantee we have them on the truck.

Loading: Our team loads your items carefully, keeps the heavy pieces low, and straps everything down so nothing shifts while we drive.

Unloading: When we arrive, we unwrap your items, place them where you want them, and make sure everything is set up before we leave.

Every move includes basic valuation coverage at $0.60 per pound per item, which follows federal moving regulations. If you want more than the standard reimbursement, we can go over the higher valuation options with you before your move date.

Do you serve all of Florida or only South Florida?

All of it. Crews run local moves across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, up the Treasure Coast and the Space Coast, around Tampa Bay and down the Gulf Coast to Naples, and in Orlando, Jacksonville, Gainesville, and Tallahassee. The city list above links to the pages we have for each area.

Is a move from the Gulf Coast to the Atlantic side a local move?

Yes. Any move that starts and ends inside Florida is a local move, Tampa to Orlando and Naples to Miami included. Only a move that crosses the state line is priced as a long-distance move with a written delivery window.

What do condo associations and HOAs require before a move?

Most want a certificate of insurance that names the association, a reserved service elevator, and a move inside their set hours, and some charge a move-in deposit. Gated communities also need the crew on the gate list for the day. Give your coordinator the association’s contact at booking and the paperwork goes out from our side.

Do you move during hurricane season?

June through November, yes. If a named storm is forecast for your dates, your coordinator moves the date with you rather than sending a crew out under a watch or warning, and storage is available if the new home is not ready when the weather clears. During the season it helps to have a second date in mind when you book.

Will the Florida heat damage my furniture or electronics on the truck?

Not with the right load. Wood, leather, and electronics are wrapped and loaded away from the truck walls, and the day is scheduled so nothing sits in a parked truck for hours in the afternoon sun. A few things should ride in your car instead: candles, vinyl records, houseplants, and medications.

Will my quote change if the move takes longer than planned?

On a flat-rate move, no: the price is set after the walkthrough and does not move with the clock. On an hourly move the final bill follows the hours worked, so the estimate shows the crew size and the expected time, and the crew tells you before anything runs past it.

Will my furniture be protected?

Yes. At Poseidon Moving, protecting your furniture is one of our highest priorities.

Every piece is carefully prepared before it’s moved. Our crews use heavy duty moving blankets, stretch wrap, floor protection, and proven loading techniques to help prevent scratches, dents, and shifting during transport.

If you have antiques, artwork, glass, marble, or other high-value items, we can recommend additional protection options such as custom crating or White Glove service.

Are there items you can't move?

Yes. For safety reasons, we cannot transport hazardous materials or certain restricted items. These are commonly referred to as “non-allowable items.”

This includes:

•Propane tanks, gasoline, kerosene, and lighter fluid
•Paint, aerosols, household cleaners, and other hazardous chemicals
•Fireworks, ammunition, matches, and charcoal
•Living things, including plants, fish, and pets

We recommend transporting these items yourself, using them before your move, or disposing of them safely according to local regulations.

Not sure about a specific item? Just ask your Move Coordinator before moving day, and we’ll be happy to let you know if it can be transported.

Can you take down TVs and wall-mounted items?

Yes. We can remove and reinstall many wall-mounted items as part of your move.

Our crews can typically dismount and reinstall:

✓Artwork and mirrors
✓Shelving
✓Window air conditioners

Some installations may require additional hardware, specialized tools, or extra time, so these services may incur an additional charge.

If you know you’ll need help with wall-mounted items, let your Move Coordinator know before moving day so we can arrive fully prepared.

How much will my move cost?

Every move is unique, so the most accurate pricing starts with a personalized estimate.

✓Local Moves – Pricing depends on the size of your move, the time required, travel time, and any additional services such as packing, storage, or specialty handling. Based on your move, we’ll recommend either hourly or flat-rate pricing.
✓Long-Distance Moves – We provide binding estimates based on your inventory, the distance, logistics, and any additional services you request.

Do you provide moving supplies and equipment?

Yes. Every Poseidon Moving truck arrives fully stocked with the supplies and equipment your move may need.

✓Basic tools for disassembly and reassembly

If you’re not fully packed by moving day, let us know before your move date and we’ll make sure the crew brings the packing supplies you need – boxes, dish packs, wardrobe boxes, bubble wrap, mirror boxes, and TV boxes.
