  • ● You have 60 days to transfer your license and register your vehicle at the NJ MVC. Bring your out-of-state title — they’ll take it when you register
  • ● Many buildings in Jersey City, Hoboken, and Newark require a Certificate of Insurance, elevator reservation, and a specific move-in window. Ask your building manager early because some book out weeks ahead
  • ● Street parking on moving day can be tough in North Jersey. If there’s no loading zone on your block, you may need a temporary no-parking permit from the city
What Things Cost
  • ● New Jersey has a graduated income tax that goes up to 10.75%. Property taxes are the highest in the country — budget for that, especially in Bergen, Essex, and Morris counties
  • ● A one-bedroom in Hoboken or Jersey City can run $2,500 or more a month. Head south toward Cherry Hill or Vineland and you’ll pay about half that
  • ● Groceries and everyday expenses are above the national average in the northern part of the state. It gets more reasonable the further south you go
