A Boston moving-truck permit is not mandatory, but it guarantees a legal reserved parking area during the permitted period. As of July 2026:

A one-day permit for two non-metered spaces costs $69.

Two metered spaces add $40.

Online applications require the move to be at least 15 days away.

In-person applications require at least three days.

Signs must be posted at least 48 hours before the permit begins.

Always verify current requirements through the City of Boston.

Several Boston-area parkways prohibit trucks and carry low-clearance bridges, and some nearby river roads have similar restrictions. Your crew plans the approach around them, which is one more reason accurate addresses and access details matter.

Poseidon Moving is registered as Massachusetts DPU 31816 and USDOT 2522855. Massachusetts intrastate moves and federally regulated interstate moves do not necessarily use identical valuation rules.

For interstate moves, federal law requires movers to offer Full Value Protection and Released Value Protection. Released Value Protection limits responsibility to no more than $0.60 per pound per article when the customer specifically selects that option.

Review the valuation section of your estimate and bill of lading before signing, and ask how owner-packed boxes, extraordinary-value items, and specialty belongings are treated.

Any change should be documented and approved before the extra work is performed. When the move proceeds according to the original written scope, ordinary traffic or a longer-than-expected moving day does not change the agreed flat rate.

Provide a complete list of what is being moved, both addresses, floor counts, stair and elevator details, walking distances, parking conditions, building restrictions, and any requested packing or storage. Will my furniture be protected?

Yes. At Poseidon Moving, protecting your furniture is one of our highest priorities.

Every piece is carefully prepared before it’s moved. Our crews use heavy duty moving blankets, stretch wrap, floor protection, and proven loading techniques to help prevent scratches, dents, and shifting during transport.

If you have antiques, artwork, glass, marble, or other high-value items, we can recommend additional protection options such as custom crating or White Glove service.

Are there items you can't move?

Yes. For safety reasons, we cannot transport hazardous materials or certain restricted items. These are commonly referred to as “non-allowable items.”

This includes:

•Propane tanks, gasoline, kerosene, and lighter fluid
•Paint, aerosols, household cleaners, and other hazardous chemicals
•Fireworks, ammunition, matches, and charcoal
•Living things, including plants, fish, and pets

We recommend transporting these items yourself, using them before your move, or disposing of them safely according to local regulations.

Can you take down TVs and wall-mounted items?

Yes. We can remove and reinstall many wall-mounted items as part of your move.
