Is a move from Worcester to the Cape a local move?

Yes. A move that starts and ends in Massachusetts is a local move, however far apart the two addresses are. Crossing into New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, or New York makes it a long-distance move with a written delivery window.

Are you licensed to move within Massachusetts?

Yes. Poseidon Moving is licensed and insured for household moves within Massachusetts and for interstate moves. Ask your coordinator for the license and insurance details before move day if you want them on file.

Is a Massachusetts local move priced by the hour or at a flat rate?

Either, depending on the job. Hourly suits most apartment and smaller house moves: the rate covers the crew and the truck, and the clock runs from arrival until the last piece is set down. A flat rate fits a move with a settled list of items and known access at both ends, because the price is fixed after the walkthrough and does not change with how long the day takes. Your coordinator recommends one once the walkthrough is done.

What can’t go on the moving truck?

Propane tanks, gasoline, paint, aerosols, and other flammables stay behind, along with gas left in mowers and snowblowers. Perishable food and houseplants travel better in your own car, and so do passports, jewelry, medications, and the folder of closing or lease paperwork. Your coordinator sends the full list with the estimate.

Can you move a piano, a safe, or other heavy items?

Yes. Pianos, gun safes, marble tops, and oversized furniture get extra crew and the right equipment, and the coordinator plans the route through the house in advance. Mention them when you request the quote, with the floor they sit on and the stairs they will take, so the day is staffed for them from the start.

Will my furniture be protected?

Yes. At Poseidon Moving, protecting your furniture is one of our highest priorities.

Every piece is carefully prepared before it’s moved. Our crews use heavy duty moving blankets, stretch wrap, floor protection, and proven loading techniques to help prevent scratches, dents, and shifting during transport.

If you have antiques, artwork, glass, marble, or other high-value items, we can recommend additional protection options such as custom crating or White Glove service.

Are there items you can't move?

Yes. For safety reasons, we cannot transport hazardous materials or certain restricted items. These are commonly referred to as “non-allowable items.”

This includes:

•Propane tanks, gasoline, kerosene, and lighter fluid
•Paint, aerosols, household cleaners, and other hazardous chemicals
•Fireworks, ammunition, matches, and charcoal
•Living things, including plants, fish, and pets

We recommend transporting these items yourself, using them before your move, or disposing of them safely according to local regulations.

Can you take down TVs and wall-mounted items?

Yes. We can remove and reinstall many wall-mounted items as part of your move.

Our crews can typically dismount and reinstall:
